The statement of doctrine of Cordova Neighborhood Church as stated in the church constitution is as as follows:

ARTICLE II - Statement of Doctrine

A.

B.

WE BELIEVE that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

WE BELIEVE in one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)

C.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man.

(Luke 1:34-38; Philippians 2:6-11)

E.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe on Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (Romans 5:9; 1 Peter 3:18; Hebrews 2:9)

G.

WE BELIEVE in the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

(Titus 2:11-14 John 14:1-3; Hebrews 10:37)

I.

WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.

(John 5:28-29; Revelation 21:1-4, 8; Matthew 25:31-46)

D.

WE BELIEVE that man was created in the image of God, that man sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God, and that all are born with a sinful nature. (Genesis 1:26-27;Romans 3:23; 5:12)

F.

WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there as our High Priest and Advocate.

(Matthew 28:5-7; 1 John 2:1-2; Acts 2:23-24; Hebrews 8:1)

H.

WE BELIEVE that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.

(John 1:12; 3:3,16; Titus 3:4-7)

J.

WE BELIEVE marriage was created by God. As such, He defines “marriage” as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment. A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by the church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in these Articles.

(Genesis 2:24; Mark 10:5-9)

K.

WE BELIEVE Legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities outside of marriage (referred to in the New Testament as “porneia”-- πορνεια) including but not limited to, adultery, premarital sex, homosexuality, and pedophilia are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church. Further, lascivious conduct, transgender behavior, and the creation and/or distribution and/or viewing of pornography, are incompatible with the biblical witness. However, the gospel is full of grace and truth. It is an offer of grace and forgiveness to sinners as well as a call to live a holy life. It empowers us in the struggle to resist sin, including sexual sin.

(1 Corinthians 6:12-20; 1 Corinthians 5:1-2; Romans 1:18-32; John 1:17; Colossians 3:1-17; Romans12:1-2)
